A Met Office weather warning for snow and ice has been issued for Glasgow this weekend.

The yellow weather warning is expected to come into force at midnight tonight, and will be in place until 11am Saturday (January 25). Glasgow is expected to remain under a yellow weather warning for wind until 3pm Saturday following Storm Eowyn.

The Met Office says to expect icy stretches and some snow showers that will result in “some hazardous driving conditions.” According to the national forecaster, there will likely be transport disruption, icy patches on untreated roads, and some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces.

Forecasters say snow will mainly be confined to high ground, above 200 metres, with between five and ten centimetres of snow accumulating. The Met Office is forecasting wintry showers for Glasgow between 9pm on Friday and 8am on Saturday.

Overnight lows will be around 2°C, but with a ‘feels like’ temperature of -4°C.
