Here’s our roundup of all the latest Liverpool news for Sunday 29th September, as Saudi Arabia’s strategy to lure Mohamed Salah is revealed.
LIVERPOOL GIVEN GRAVENBERCH WARNING
Ryan Gravenberch has once again been the talk of Merseyside after another sublime performance against Wolves on Saturday.
Former Manchester United and Bayern Munich midfielder Owen Hargreaves is the latest pundit to applaud the midfielder.
Speaking on Premier League Productions the former England international heaped praise on Gravenberch but outlined that it is still a position he believes Liverpool need to strengthen with the Dutchman not being a natural number six.
Hargreaves also added that Liverpool still need a Fabinho-type of player in order to win the Premier League or the Champions League.
KONATE TIPPED TO BE VAN DIJK’S SUCCESSOR
After starting the first day of the season on the bench and being brought on at half-time, Ibrahima Konate has quickly become an essential piece of the starting XI, being central to Liverpool being top of the table after six games.
After scoring his first goal in two years at the San Siro against AC Milan a couple of weeks ago, the centre-back scored his first Premier League goal in that same period with the opener against Wolves yesterday – something he thought should have earnt him Man of the Match credentials.
And now Liverpool legend Michael Owen has said that he could be the natural replacement for Virgil van Dijk at the club.

ARNE SLOT OFFERS SEASON VERDICT SO FAR
There is no doubting that Liverpool couldn’t have started this season much better.
Top of the league after six games, beaten Milan away in the Champions League and through to the fourth round of the League Cup. Luis Diaz has five goals, Mo Salah is doing Mo Salah things, Trent Alexander-Arnold is in midseason form and a whole host of other players have taken huge steps up.
But new manager Arne Slot knows that getting ahead of yourself can be a death sentence.
And he, of course, has a point. Five of Liverpool’s first six league opponents sit in the bottom half of the table at the time of writing – including two of the bottom three – and their only top-half opponent, a Nottingham Forest side that beat them 1-0 at Anfield, currently sit 9th.
SAUDI ARABIA’S SALAH STRATEGY REVEALED
Mo Salah has been a mainstay when it comes to big names linked to Saudi Arabia.
The links to Saudi Arabia, whilst well-established, just will not go away. CaughtOffside are now reporting that the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) – the sovereign wealth fund of Saudi Arabia that owns high-spending clubs Al-Ahli, Al-Hilal, Al-Ittihad, Al-Nassr – is shifting its strategy to secure a pre-contract with the Egyptian by January or February 2025.
The outlet are also reporting that the PIF are preparing a 2+1-year contract offer with, expectedly, a monumental salary.
TYLER MORTON BEING ‘TESTED’ BY SLOT
Tyler Morton got his first minutes of the season in Liverpool’s 5-1 win over West Ham on Wednesday.
Confusion has risen regarding Morton’s lack of minutes after the club’s decision to keep the midfielder at the club.
But that might change with the new Liverpool boss ‘testing’ Morton in training.
In Liverpool’s programme notes ahead of West Ham’s visit, the midfielder revealed he has been put in positions that he needs to improve on.
