Here is your Liverpool FC news recap from Tuesday 30 July as updates have been provided on several transfer rumours while a pundit has had a go at vice-captain Trent Alexander-Arnold.
ROMANO GIVES HOPE FOR GORDON DEAL
Fabrizio Romano has given an update surrounding Liverpool’s potential move for Anthony Gordon stating that the Reds’ interest remains concrete.
The former Everton man had a strong 2023/24 campaign under Eddie Howe for Newcastle. He scored 11 goals in the Premier League whilst also getting 10 assists.
So there was no shock that top sides would be linked with his signature but there was a slight surprise that it was Liverpool given his time at Goodison Park.

LIVERPOOL MAKE OFFER FOR EURO 2024 TURKEY STAR
Liverpool are said to be ‘extremely determined’ to strike a deal for a £25m winger. The Reds are consistently linked now.
Fotomac in Turkey claims Liverpool seem ‘extremely determined’ to sign Baris Yilmaz from Galatasaray. Not that it’s an easy deal to strike.
Yilmaz has left the decision entirely up to his club, who are reluctant to part with one of their biggest talents. They’d supposedly ask for over £30m to sell the winger – but Liverpool are looking at a cheaper fee.
TRENT ALEXANDER-ARNOLD FACES CRITICISM
Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jamie O’Hara has taken aim at Liverpool vice-captain Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The 25-year-old was seen signing a Real Madrid shirt on holiday, with the Champions League winners interested in acquiring his services, and Trent’s behaviour didn’t help the transfer rumours go away.
O’Hara thinks it isn’t a good look for the right-back, who has had some extended time off due to being with the England squad at Euro 2024.
REDS COULD SIGN FORMER TARGET FOR BARGAIN FEE
Former Liverpool transfer target Manu Kone is desperate to leave Borussia Monchengladbach this summer and could be available for as little as €20m (£16.8m).
Liverpool signed four midfielders last summer ahead of Jurgen Klopp’s final campaign with Kone long linked with an Anfield switch as the Reds looked to raid the Bundesliga.
With Liverpool also potentially in the market for a defensive midfielder, could the Reds revive their interest in the Frenchman?
DEFENDER JOINS NEW CLUB AFTER LIVERPOOL REJECTION
Liverpool turned down the opportunity to sign RB Salzburg’s Oumar Solet last January and the centre-back is now closing in on a move to Spanish side Villarreal.
After Joel Matip’s injury last December, it was reported that Liverpool were interested in recruiting a new central defender. However, the winter window passed without any new additions to the backline.
But after the window slammed shut, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed that Liverpool were offered the chance to sign RB Salzburg’s Solet.
Just seven months later and Solet is finally earning a move to one of Europe’s top five leagues.
ADRIEN RABIOT PREFERENCE REVEALED
Midfielder Adrien Rabiot has reportedly REJECTED the chance to join Liverpool as he wants a contract offer from Manchester United instead.
This is according to Tuttomercato, who are stating that Rabiot’s next move will certainly be to the Premier League.
The midfielder is coming off the back of a European Championships campaign in which he was a starter for France.
His time at Juventus is at an end as he opted to walk away upon the expiry of his contract and now his next move is imminent.
LIVERPOOL WINGER WANTS MORE PLAYING TIME
Liverpool winger Ben Doak wants to play regular football this upcoming season and he could be loaned out with many teams expressing interest.
Doak is one of several young players at Liverpool who have been raved about in recent years.
The winger joined the club from Scottish giants Celtic back in 2022 for a compensation fee worth £600,000.
He suffered a big injury last season and now he wants to make up for lost time and get some more senior minutes into his legs.
LIVERPOOL BATTLING IT OUT WITH RIVALS FOR SERIE A MAN
Liverpool are rivalling Aston Villa for the signature of Genoa midfielder Morten Frendrup. That is according to reports in Italy from Tuttomercato.
Frendrup had his first full season in Serie A in the last campaign after joining Genoa in January 2022 and staying put when they got relegated.
For Genoa, he has been a key player in the middle of the park as he featured 39 times in all competitions last season.
Now his form has been noted by some top teams in England and Arne Slot is supposedly one manager who wants him.
