FDA: Potentially deadly chocolate sold in Texas. What to do now.

A recall that began in December over a line of chocolate and candy products has been assigned the highest risk level by the United States Food and Drug Administration, impacting at least 20 different products distributed across nine states, including Texas. 

The recall was initiated by Cal Yee Farm LLC of Suisun Valley, California over potential or undeclared allergens, including almond, milk, soy, wheat, sesame and FD&C #6, according to a company announcement shared on the FDA’s website.

The Cal Yee’s items included in the recall are as follows: 

  • 8- ounce Yogurt Coated Almonds – UPC: YOG0188
  • 1-pound Yogurt Coated Almonds – UPC: YOG0101
  • 8-ounce Dark Chocolate Raisins – UPC: CON0788
  • 8-ounce Butter Toffee Almonds – UPC: ALM2588
  • 1-pound Butter Toffee Almonds – UPC: ALM2501
  • 8-ounce Tropical Trail Mix – UPC: TRM0488
  • 1-pound Tropical Trail Mix – UPC: TRM0401
  • 2-pound Tropical Trail Mix – UPC: TRM0402
  • 5-pound Tropical Trail Mix – UPC: TRM0405
  • 8-ounce Dark Chocolate Walnuts – UPC: CON0688
  • 8-ounce Dark Chocolate Almonds – UPC: CON0588
  • 8-ounce Mango with Chili – UPC: MAN0488
  • 1-pound Mango with Chili – UPC: MAN0401
  • 1-pound Cajun Sesame Hot Sticks – UPC: SES0501

The recall has been assigned a Class I risk level from the FDA, the highest level assigned by the administration. A Class I signifies “a situation in which there is a reasonable probability that the use of, or exposure to, a violative product will cause serious adverse health consequences or death,” according to the FDA website
