Gracie Abrams has blasted a petition to replace her tour opener Dora Jar.
Jar revealed Friday, Jan. 24 that she would be opening for Abrams on her European and U.K. tour in February and March.
Apparently, that decision did not sit right with some Abrams fans, as an petition on change.org called “Replace Dora Jar as the Opening Act for The Secret of Us Europe Tour” was created and went viral, Stereogum reported.
“Many fans, including myself, are baffled by the recent announcement that Dora Jar will be the opening act for The Secret of Us Tour’s Europe Shows,” the since-deleted campaign, created under the name Dexter Morgan, read according to Stereogum.
“We are perplexed as we do not recognize her, and with less than two weeks till the tour, it’s virtually impossible to familiarize ourselves with her slow-paced songs,” the campaign reportedly read. “For a memorable concert experience, an opening act should set the mood and get the crowd excited, but Dora’s slow tempo songs may not achieve this goal.”
The petition continued, “It seems only fair that a more well-known, energetic artist or band should replace Dora Jar as the opening act. Please show your support for a more enjoyable concert experience by signing this petition for the replacement of Dora Jar as the opening act of The Secret of Us Tour.”
Abrams heard about the petition and shared her thoughts on Stereogum’s Instagram post referring to the story on Sunday.
“Just hearing about this absolute ridiculousness . . . so wildly uncool and bizarre and also just does not remotely add up,” Abrams wrote.
“I’ve only seen everyone’s total excitement and I couldn’t be luckier or prouder to share a stage with this talented wonder,” the Grammy nominee continued. “Stream everything she’s ever made whether or not you’re coming to the show. Dora forever and ever.”
Abrams reiterated her support of Jar by resharing a screenshot of the comment she left on Stereogum’s post on her Instagram story Sunday.
“I am so excited to share a stage with this gem of an artist,” Abrams wrote. “Love you Dora.”
This came after Jar reacted to the petition on X Friday.
“Don’t worry this doesn’t bum me out! I’m hear to perform for all the music loving open hearted fans,” she wrote. “Those who aren’t interested can go buy merch while I’m playing (but they might as well let me entertain them tho.”
The singer also joked on X and TikTok, that she was signing the petition.
Jar is a 28-year-old musician was born in New York City but grew up in Northern California. She released her debut studio album “No Way to Relax When You Are on Fire” in September 2024.
Jar has been recognized as an emerging artist by Vogue and Alternative Press. Jar has opened for other major acts such as Billie Eilish and the 1975.
Jar will join Abrams on the European leg of “The Secret of Us Tour” in Madrid, Spain on Feb. 8. She will perform across Europe and the U.K. before wrapping up the tour in Glasgow on March 12.
