Encounter the Breathtaking Feline with Two Legs Who Discovered Her Ideal Forever Abode at a Texan Shelter!

The staff at The Cattery Cat Shelter in Corpus Christi, Texas, received three tailless kittens from a kind-hearted person, and they gave them unique names inspired by rabbits from fiction: Peter Rabbit, Thumper, and Cecily Parsley. Due to their physical appearance with no tails and adorable big ears and eyes, the shelter’s social media manager, Katie Hattfield, thought they looked like little bunnies.

On April 3, 2018, a set of cute little kittens were brought to the shelter. Unfortunately, upon examination, it was found that one of them, Cecily, had a congenital condition called Manx syndrome. This condition affects tailless cats and can cause spinal issues leading to health problems like partial paralysis or incontinence.

According to @princesscecilycc on Instagram, the veterinarian discovered that not only does Cecily have Manx syndrome, but she also has deformed hind legs that prevent her from using them. As a result, she was given a permanent home at The Cattery Cat Shelter.

Katie admits that they were not fully aware of the responsibility they were taking on initially, but as they consulted with the vet, it became clear that the cat would require extra care due to its disability. Nevertheless, Katie and her team were more than willing to provide everything necessary for the cat’s well-being.

Cecily, who was rescued by a Texas shelter, unfortunately began to harm herself by chewing on her back legs, which resulted in severe injuries. Her actions also put her at risk of developing an infection. The veterinarian recommended that she have surgery to remove her back legs since she couldn’t use them anymore. Despite being a kitten at the time, Cecily recovered well from the operation. Katie, her owner, mentioned that it didn’t take her long to adapt to living as a two-legged cat.

Cecily, who was taken to the shelter three years ago, is thriving and happily residing with over 20 other cats in the Teen Room at The Cattery Cat Shelter. It’s a common misconception that special needs cats cannot lead joyful and energetic lives, but Cecily is not much different from any other cat.

Katie informs that her furry friend keeps herself active by using the exercise wheel, running after her pals, and relishing snacks and wet food. Although she may not climb cat trees, she still utilizes cat scratchers and toys for playtime. Katie assures that her pet can lead a fulfilling and content life.

Cecily, unlike a regular cat, has the inability to climb. Moreover, the only noticeable difference is that she needs to wear diapers along with clothing to keep them in place. She also requires regular baths due to her incontinence. Katie informs that since wearing diapers increases the risk of infections, they have to be extra vigilant in ensuring Cecily gets cleaned twice a day and has a fresh diaper on.

The good news is that Cecily, a special needs cat with incontinence and only two legs, is receiving exceptional care from the shelter’s staff and volunteers. They are dedicated to ensuring that she lives a happy life despite her challenges. Taking care of Cecily requires more effort and resources compared to other cats that may have fewer disabilities. The shelter provides her with diapers, special clothes, and specialized food, in addition to regular vet check-ups to ensure her health and well-being. According to Katie, who works at the shelter, there’s a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes to ensure Cecily is healthy and comfortable.

Luckily, Cecily has discovered a permanent residence that provides her with the necessary care and affection. In fact, she receives all the attention she desires! According to Katie, “Cecily adores being the focus of everyone’s attention.” Every Friday, they conduct a photoshoot, and Cecily eagerly rushes towards the center to pose for the camera.

Cecily’s extroverted nature has been instrumental in promoting special needs cats at The Cattery Cat Shelter. She has effectively demonstrated to the public, staff, and volunteers that these animals should not be pitied simply because they are different.
