Arsenal has asked for approval for a plan to hold a parade around London if they can defeat Man City and be crowned Premier League champion this season.
Arsenal have confirmed plans to hold a parade if they are crowned Premier League champions next week.
The Gunners are currently one point ahead of Man City but have played one more match. If Pep Guardiola and his team lose points and Arsenal win all 2 remaining matches, they will win their first English championship in 20 years.
Accordingly, Arsenal needs to start preparing to celebrate in case they defeat Man City. This is a mandatory requirement and the club must seek approval from city leaders 1 week in advance. The council and police will then issue road closure notices and many safety preparations will need to be arranged in advance.
Similarly, Man City must also seek approval from the city of Manchester from this week.
With the title race likely to be decided on the final day, 24 hours will not be enough to prepare for the massive parade. According to the current situation, the preliminary parade plan is as follows:
5pm (UK time): The parade will start from Emirates Stadium, the bus will travel along Drayton Park, Aubert Park, Highbury Grove, St Paul’s Road, Upper Street and return to the stadium .
7pm: The parade will return to Emirates Stadium, with a brief appearance by the players on a stage set up at Hornsey Road.
8 p.m.: Celebration ends. Police will support and manage the event as planned. Barriers and cordons will be erected along the route, with limits on the number of people allowed to watch from the area adjacent to Emirates Stadium.
This roadmap is exactly the same as the plan of Arsene Wenger and his team when they won the Premier League championship in the 2003-2004 season with an undefeated record.
People around the area should bring identification with their address so police can help them get through the crowd.
The temporary parking ban will take effect before 8:30 a.m. on May 20. All vehicles will be required to move along the route at that time, without parking.
The road closure will take effect from 4pm on May 20. The restrictions will be lifted as soon as possible, expected around 9 p.m. Buses around Islington will have to be diverted due to road closures along the parade route.
