Cristiano Ronaldo says Man City deserved Champions League win ‘two years ago’ and tips Pep Guardiola’s side to repeat European success this season. City lifted the Champions League for the first time in the club’s history last season, beating Inter 1-0 in the final in Istanbul. Ronaldo, who lifted one European Cup with Manchester United and four with Real Madrid, thinks Pep Guardiola’s side had deserved the trophy far earlier.
Ronaldo said: “Manchester City did amazing. Congratulations on their season. Players, coach. Superb. Finally they win the Champions League, they probably deserved it two years ago. I enjoy seeing them playing. Manchester City have a good chance to win the Champions League again. Favourites? Man City, Real Madrid, Bayern.”
It’s no surprise to seel Ronaldo tipping Guardiola’s side for glory once again. City added to their treble-winning squad in the summer by spending heavily on players including Jeremy Doku, Josko Gvardiol and Matheus Nunes.
