The Argentine superstar is playing in his fifth World Cup. At 35 years old, this could be his last World Cup.
To pay tribute to the 7-time Ballon d’Or winner, Adidas has gifted him a special edition boot called the X Speedportal ‘Leyenda’. The design of the X Speedportal ‘Leyenda’ is inspired by the Adidas F30 boots Messi wore at his first World Cup in 2006.
Messi will wear special shoes at the tournament in Qatar.
The first glimpse of the special edition X Speedportal ‘Leyenda’ was last week when Messi attended an early Argentina training session in Qatar. However, we now have a closer look at all the details on the special boot.
Specifically, the X Speedportal ‘Leyenda’ has a bronze color similar to the F30 pair that Messi wore at the World Cup in Germany 16 years ago. It is a combination of the brand’s logo with three prominent black and white stripes on the shoe body.
Subtle blue detailing at the back of the elastic collar, along with graphics on the instep and studs, clearly show Messi’s love for his homeland Argentina.
The design also features the number 10 – Messi’s iconic shirt number – and the brand logo appears on the back of the heel.
The glittering soleplate is covered in gold representing all the glories Messi has achieved in his career so far.
It would be a perfect ending for Messi if he leads Argentina to win the 2022 World Cup.
Messi and his teammates will conquer the 2022 World Cup by competing against Saudi Arabia in the opening match at 5:00 p.m. on November 22 (Hanoi time).
