Atlantic Records is adamant that Cardi B‘s album will still drop later this year, despite the rapper’s previous refusal.
Cardi B took to X, formerly known as Twitter, telling fans that she’s scrapping her sophomore album release. She wrote: “Anyway NO album this year. I don’t care, I’m relaxing this year. Dropping these features I already committed to and traveling and enjoying my summer.”
However, her record label certainly did care. The company, owned by Warner Music Group, quote posted Rolling Stone’s cover story about the star. They wrote: “Cardi B’s upcoming album is one of the most anticipated this year. We can’t wait put it out, even if we have to sneak into her studio and take it!”

In the Rolling Stone article, Cardi touched on the difficulties she’s faced creating this album. In fact, she admitted that she’s been hunkering down to work on it and using homesickness to motivate her. She said: “Being out here is my punishment. Until I have the album ready, I’m not going home. When I come to L.A., I be like, ‘I’m ready to get shit done.’ Then, eight days in, my mind starts missing home, feeling lonely, and then I be like, ‘Girl …’I miss my kids.”

Cardi deleted the post altogether, but there’s still no formal word on when the album is dropping. The New York native previously dropped one studio album in 2018 with a variety of singles and features following in the years thereafter. Prior to the hit album, Cardi put out three mixtapes.
In response to Atlantic’s shady tweet, fans were celebrating the return of their favorite artist. One wrote: “Oh Atlantic had to come on here and make things CLEAR. Yeah, that album coming out THIS YEAR to make and break some RECORDS, I know that’s right!”
However, some were encouraging the company to put Cardi’s needs first whether or not the album is ready. A fan said: “Yall better make sure you are supporting her needs and providing her with whatever contributes to a healthy mental space! She gone bring the heat — she was gone do that anyways, because that’s just how she is.”
