It was the Halloween ritual of dressing up as something contrary to one’s identity that triggered an epiphany in the mind of Cardi B. This past Halloween, fans of various calibers of the “Bodak Yellow” spitter spruced up as her for this year’s festivities. The costumes that stood out the most to her were those suited by adorable young girls. Upon scanning through photos on social media of all the young girls who dressed up like her, it hit Cardi B how far her influence has gone.
After flexing her pretty, Bardi took to Instagram to broadcast her epiphany: “You know what y’all, I realized after Halloween that a lot of little girls, they be looking up to me.” The reach of her hit “Bodak Yellow,” primarily touches the youth, at most, young women, including pre-adolescents. Cardi B’s zestful persona and outright rhetoric surely resonates with the venturesome nature of youngins, as displayed on her social media accounts.
Recognizing her influence, Cardi B admits, “I’m thinking to myself, yo, I really need to be a better example.” The Bronx rapper states how she tries to range her content between PG-13 and R, but at times the effective yet sinister influence of her hood friends can put a hinge on her efforts. Nevertheless, Cardi B appears to be touched by the love she receives from her constantly growing fan base and she is armed to do whatever it takes to maintain her favorable stance with them.
