With two songs “Bodak Yellow” and “I Like It”, Cardi B created history by becoming the first female rapper to have two No.1 Billboard hits.
On July 2, hip hop star Cardi B returned to the top spot on this week’s Billboard Hot 100 chart with the hit song “I Like It”. With her first No.1 song “Bodak Yellow”, Cardi B surpassed other artists, officially becoming the first female rapper to have two No.1 hits on the prestigious Billboard chart.
Cardi B topped the charts for the first time with the song “Bodak Yellow” after many weeks of release. This song became a huge hit in 2017 and was called “the rap of the summer” by the New York Times.
Both hits “I Like It” and “Bodak Yellow” are in the debut album titled “Invasion of Privacy” by this female hip hop artist.
When “Bodak Yellow” reached the top position of Billboard, Cardi B became the 5th female artist in the hip hop industry to be on the chart. Other female artists include Lauryn Hill, Shawnna, Lil Kim and Iggy Azalea. However, since their initial success, none of these female artists have been able to repeat a second hit to top the Billboard charts.
