2016: First Meeting
While not much is known about exactly how Cardi B and Offset first met, the female rapper claimed they first met at an “industry event” in 2016. “He was very consistent,” Cardi said of Offset’s intentions that night. “He really wanted to talk to me.”
January 20, 2017: Their First Track
With both of their musical careers on the rise, Cardi and Offset released track “Lick” together early in 2017. As far as the public was concerned, the pair wasn’t more than friends and collaborators.
February 5, 2017: First Date at the Super Bowl
In what is probably one of the most iconic first dates, Cardi B and Offset tested out a romantic relationship at the 2017 Super Bowl. Later, Offset revealed to Rolling Stone that he asked his publicist to coordinate a group dinner with Cardi B and the Houston-based Super Bowl was, in fact, their first official date. “That’s a power move,” he recalled of his efforts.
June 22, 2017: He’s “The Boy”
During her cover interview for the July 2017 issue of Fader, Cardi refused to confirm or deny her relationship with Offset. However, she did give some hints to fans about her relationship status when she referred to him as “the boy.” Cardi added, “It’s been a blessing, me meeting him and meeting his friends. I see how hard they work. And that motivated me to work even harder.”
August 27, 2017: Cardi’s Ready For a Ring

Cardi B has always spoken her mind, so when she blatantly dropped an engagement hint to Offset at the MTV Video Music Awards pre-show in 2017 the gesture was no surprise. “I’m a woman. Every woman, I think, wants to get married and wants to have children,” she told Charlamagne Tha God. “It’s never too early to get married now. You know, if you want to propose to me, you can.” At this time though, she still had yet to confirm her romance with the Migos rapper.
September 20, 2017: Secret Wedding
Unbeknownst to the public, Cardi B and Offset got married in Atlanta, Georgia on September 20, 2017. They said “I do” in their apartment and Cardi’s cousin was their only witness. The marriage would remain a secret for nine months until TMZ discovered a marriage certificate in June 2018!
October 21, 2017: Cardi Claims She’s Single
In a now-deleted Instagram post, Cardi B called herself single. A few hours later she took down the post and called the statement “extreme.” The following day, she tweeted, “Naaa but on a serious note I really loveeeee my man he was gifted to me from Jesus.”
October 27, 2017: $500,000 Proposal
On October 27, 2017, Offset proposed to Cardi B onstage at a concert in Philadelphia (despite marrying each other a month earlier). He presented the “Bodak Yellow” singer with a whopping 20-carat diamond ring that reportedly cost a half a million dollars.
January 2018: Cheating Rumors

Despite their public engagement, the celebrity couple was rocked by cheating rumors at the end of 2017 and into the new year. There were rumors that Offset cheated on Cardi and even made a sex tape with someone else. The female rapper turned to social media to defend her relationship with Offset and even told fans “You pull that s— again, you gonna lose your wife” mid-performance.
January 14, 2018: Offset Gets Inked
On Jan. 18, Offset showed off some new ink: Cardi B’s name tattooed on his neck.
April 7, 2018: Cardi Confirms Her Pregnancy
After months of pregnancy rumors (which the rapper repeatedly denied), the suspicions were confirmed on April 7, 2018. Cardi B revealed her growing baby bump during an appearance on Saturday Night Live. The next morning Offset told fans on Twitter, “Cardi and I look forward to our next chapter together.”
June 25, 2018: Secret Marriage Revealed
On June 25, 2018, TMZ revealed the music power couple had been married for months—nine to be exact! Cardi also confirmed the news on Twitter, saying, “There are so many moments that I share with the world and there are moments that I want to keep for myself! Getting married was one of those moments! Our relationship was so new breaking up and making up and we had a lot of growing to do but we was so in love we didn’t want to lose each other.”
July 10, 2018: Kulture Kiari Cephus Is Born
