Beyoncé fans have mobbed a Brazilian woman after she mysteriously became the first person the star has ever followed on Instagram.
Despite her claim to be interested in all the independent women of the world, Queen Bey doesn’t generally interact with her fans on social media. She is following just eight people on Twitter, despite having roughly 13.8million followers herself.
So when she chose to follow on single lady on Instagram, her fanbase erupted.
Members of the “Beyhive”, the singer’s global network of passionate fans, rushed to follow an Instagrammer called Thaisalcosta and bombarded her with questions. Her own number of followers shot up to more than 6,000 in a matter of minutes, forcing her to lock her account.
Then, without comment, Beyoncé decided to stop following the woman and the fans began to settle down a little.
Little is known about this Instagram user and even less is known about why Beyoncé chose to interact with her.
“OMG. Their life must be made,” one fan tweeted.

Another tweeter asked: “Can you imagine how much different my life would be right now if *I* were the one person that Beyoncé followed/unfollowed on Instagram?”
One fan took the opportunity to ask the pop legend if she could help her achieve a lifetime’s dream.
“Beyoncé!,” she wrote. “I want Justin Bieber to follow me.”
Others used the news as an excuse to put the boot into other celebritys.
“Kim Kardashian broke the Internet by posing nude(nothing we haven’t seen).” a fan wrote. “And Beyoncé broke Instagram by following someone. Shows u the difference.”
Although Beyoncé doesn’t follow people on Instagram, she delights in sharing frank images of herself wearing skimpy outfits and intimate shots of life within the Bey Bubble.
However, she has been accused of photoshopping some images before unveiling them to the world.
