Specifically, in an interview with iHeartRadio, Avril Lavigne revealed that she is working on a film adaptation of her song Sk8er Boi .
“Nearly the 20th anniversary of the release of the song Sk8er Boi, a lot of people have asked me to perform this song on TV shows… So I’m going to take it to a new level, I’m going to adapt the song This song becomes a movie” – the female singer-songwriter shared.
Released in 2002, Sk8er Boi revolves around the love story of a girl. Although she really wanted to be with a kind and strong-willed guy, she rejected him after the slander and comments of her friends. Years later, the girl came to regret the decision when he became extremely famous.

Sk8er Boi became an important element of the pop-punk movement in the early 2000s. The song quickly attracted a large audience and reached the Top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Not only that, in 2003 , Lavigne received five Grammy Award nominations, including Best Female Rock Vocal Performance for Sk8er Boi but lost to Sheryl Crow’s Steve McQueen .
In the past, many famous songs were adapted into movies. The most recent typical example is Last Christmas ( That Christmas , 2019) directed by Paul Feig; co-written by Emma Thompson and Bryony Kimmings based on the song of the same name by the band Wham!. This film has brought in 123.4 million USD globally with a budget of nearly 30 million USD.

Lavigne’s film adaptation project seems to be in its early stages, so no major directors or studios were mentioned in her interview. However, we cannot rule out the possibility that this will be an independent film.
Besides music, Lavigne also has marks in the film industry. Notably, in 2006, Lavigne had a voice role in the animated film Over The Hedge (The Mischievous Four) of DreamWorks Animation. After that, the female singer born in 1984 also appeared in the comedy film Fast Food Nation ( Fast Food Nation , 2006) by Richard Linklater.
