Can we make it any more obvious? Avril Lavigne is one of the biggest names in music history. Ever since her debut in 2002 with ‘Let Go,’ Avril has been an pop icon. With her female-driven, punk-influence pop music, she slowly took over the music mainstream with hits like her breakout “Complicated,” her rhyming earworm “Sk8er Boi,” her power-ballad “I’m With You,” and her grunge-twinged “Losing Grip.” Her debut went platinum seven times in the US, and was certified diamond in her native country of Canada. Her follow-up, 2004’s ‘Under My Skin,’ sold well (going platinum 5-times in Canada, three-times in the USA) but the shifting music landscape saw diminishing returns in the following years. However, she remained incredibly popular. Her single “Girlfriend,” off of 2007’s ‘The Best Damn Thing,’ was her first song to reach the top of the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States. In January 2021 the couple cowrote the single “Flames” and appeared in a music video for the song together. Mod Sun marked his love with Avril’s name tattooed on his neck in February 2021. The made their first red carpet debut at the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards. They shared more of their love on instagram posting PDA photos for fans to go wild over. March of 2022 Avril appeared on Kelly Clarkson all giddy and talking about her connection with Mod Sun.
“I went into the studio and literally was like, ‘Here is where I am at. I am over love. I’m jaded on love right now,’” she shared in March 2022. “So I wrote that song ‘Love Sux’ and that set the tone for this album. And then a couple of days later, I had a boyfriend. I’m literally never single.”
