Sharing with Entertainment Weekly magazine about her new album, Avril said: “This album will not be a pop rock album like the previous albums. Most of the songs are acoustic, going deeper into the emotional and sentimental aspects.”
Avril’s fourth album is expected to have 12 songs, but the album still has no official title. The album was produced by Avril’s husband, Sum 41 lead singer Deryck Whibley, for eight of the songs. The remaining four songs were produced by Butch Walker, who co-wrote Avril’s hits such as My Happy Ending and When You’re Gone .
The 25-year-old singer also revealed the concept for the album’s first single, which will be a song based on a piece she wrote for Black Star perfume (listen to Avril’s Black Star commercial on YouTube here ). With its soft, piano-driven sound, it’s the first song Avril has recorded for her new album. Avril decided to record the commercial in full because “people really like it because it’s like a lullaby.”
Two songs on the album that Avril is particularly fond of are Everybody hurts and Darlin . Darlin is a love song that she composed when she was 15 years old and had never been recorded before. Currently, Avril is focusing on completing this album. After releasing the album, she plans to embark on a tour in North America in February next year.
Avril Lavigne has released three albums to date. In 2002, she released her debut album Let Go and quickly reached number two on the Billboard 200 New Albums chart .
