Avril Lavigne is confirmed at Rock in Rio 2022

Avril Lavigne is revisiting all of her best damn songs just in time for her upcoming headline tour.

The 39-year-old pop-punk star announced on Friday, May 10, that she’s releasing a Greatest Hits album this summer to commemorate her decades-long discography, which is great news for fans who have already copped tickets to her first-ever Greatest Hits tour.

“Can’t do a greatest hits tour without a greatest hits album!!!” the Grammy-nominated “Girlfriend” singer wrote on Instagram alongside her album cover art. “Dropping June 21st 🩷💚🧡🖤.”

The 20-track career-spanning compilation project — now available for pre-order — will spotlight all phases of Lavigne’s musical journey, including her 2002 debut, Let Go, and other releases leading up to 2022’s Love Sux, her seventh studio album and most recent full-length release.

Along with her Greatest Hits album news, expanded editions of four of Lavigne’s studio albums — 2004’s Under My Skin, 2007’s Best Damn Thing, 2011’s Goodbye Lullaby, and 2013’s Avril Lavigne — will be released in 12″ vinyl for the first time, also including bonus tracks that were previously digital-only songs.

In late January, Lavigne announced via social media that she’s heading out on the road for her Greatest Hits tour to perform songs“from all of my albums and along with some of your favorites.” The “Complicated” singer also teased, “Of course all of my friends are joining me,” including All Time Low, Simple Plan, Girlfriends and Royal & the Serpent, who will serve as opening acts throughout her tour run.

“This is gonna be too much stupid fun celebrating my career with my friends and fans,” Lavigne added in her tour announcement. “Who’s coming???? What songs do you want to hear???”

The diamond-certified Canadian artist’s tour kicks off in Vancouver, BC, on May 22, and will also make stops in cities like Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Charlotte, Nashville, Chicago, and Toronto before wrapping up on Sept. 18 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Tickets are still available for fans on Ticketmaster, along with V.I.P. packages that can be purchased on vipnation.com.

  • Ahead of her tour, Lavigne will make her debut performance at the 59th ACM Awards on Thursday, May 16, with best new male artist nominee Nate Smith.
