Avril Lavigne is a Canadian singer-songwriter. For more than a decade, she’s enjoyed huge success with her own punk-influenced pop tunes.

Passion since childhood
Avril Ramona Lavigne, commonly known as Avril Lavigne. She was born on September 27, 1984, in Belleville. When Avril was 5 years old, her family moved to Greater Napanee, Ontario, a town of about 5,000 residents. Avril’s parents have always supported their child’s singing.
Avril’s father bought her a microphone, a drum set, a keyboard and several guitars. After that, he also converted the basement of his house into a recording studio for his daughter.
At the age of 2, Avril Lavigne’s brother and mother recognized Avril’s vocal abilities when she sang the song Jesus Loves Me, on the way home from church. When Avril was 14 years old, her parents often took her to karaoke sessions. She participated in hockey and won the MVP award twice, as a “right winger” in a tournament for boys.
Avril Lavigne loved to sing throughout her childhood. She first performed in church choirs, and learned to play the guitar and began composing as a teenager. At first, she focused on country music, but she eventually changed her musical style.
Leaving high school, she went to New York and then Los Angeles to work with the record label Arista Records. She has performed songs by Garth Brooks, the Chicks, and Shania Twain. Then she started writing her own songs. Avril’s song is called Can’t Stop Thinking About You, about a teenage love.

Changes in life
At age 15, Avril appeared on stage with Shania Twain. At the age of 16, Avril signed a two-album recording contract with record label Arista Records.
And in 2005, at the age of 17, Avril Lavigne broke into the music market with her debut album, Let Go, in 2002. She reached No. 1 with the single Complicated, a song about a difficult relationship. Other hits that followed were Sk8er Boi and I’m With You.
Avril Lavigne’s music took a more stable step with the album Under My Skin, released in 2004, although not as popular as her first album. However, Avril still has two outstanding songs, Don’t Tell Me and Nobody’s Home, and a big hit in the Top 10 of the year, My Happy Ending.
Returning to her strong and vibrant pop music style, Avril released the album The Best Damn Thing in 2007. She had great success with the viral hit Girlfriend. A Rolling Stone reviewer called the song “super catchy” and said the album contains a “large dose” of Avril Lavigne’s sass, anger, and fragility. In 2006, she married fellow musician Deryck Whibley of the Canadian band “Sum 41”.
In her next album Goodbye Lullaby, Avril Lavigne looks at love in different stages, from the joy of being together to the pain of breaking up. The album’s theme is not surprising as between The Best Damn Thing and Goodbye Lullaby was the period when Lavigne and Whibley divorced.
However, the breakup was still peaceful enough for the two to work together on the album Goodbye Lullaby. Whibley was a producer on several songs on the album. Not straying too far from the powerful pop that made her famous, Avril used the catchy hit What the Hell as the album’s first single. Goodbye Lullaby has had huge success overseas, topping the charts in Japan, Australia and Korea.
For many years, Avril Lavigne struggled with a dangerous illness. When she first “got a strange illness”, Avril Lavigne was subjective and did not go see a doctor. She said that she was “protesting” with the busy tour schedule, and that she was just sick with a bad cold and tired.
However, the illness prevented her from partying on her 30th birthday, at which point Avril Lavigne was forced to go to the doctor. The doctor made a preliminary diagnosis but did not ask her to perform general tests. They only gave her temporary medicine because they had not found the cause of the disease. Several months later, doctors confirmed she was suffering from Lyme disease.
Lyme disease is a zoonotic disease (borne by tick bites), and the causative agent is the spirochete Borrelia burgdorferi (Bb). The disease causes damage mainly to the skin, nervous system, heart and joints.
Avril Lavigne is also an icon of fashion style.
Interesting “secrets”.
In addition to her musical talent, Avril Lavigne is considered a style icon. Fans copied Avril’s multi-colored hair and followed her street fashion style. However, music is not Avril Lavigne’s only interest. She launched her own perfume called “Forbidden Rose”, and created her own clothing line “Abbey Dawn”, a childhood nickname given to her by her father.
Avril Lavigne also takes time to help others. In 2010, she founded the Avril Lavigne Charitable Foundation, to help young people with disabilities and serious illnesses.
Avril Lavigne once revealed that she once wanted to become a police officer. When she was young, she also wanted to become a hairdresser. Avril has a hobby of doing her own makeup without the help of others.
Avril also shared: “If I don’t sing anymore, I will become a makeup artist because I really like this job. It’s interesting that I can “disguise” myself into many different faces thanks to the colors blue, red, purple, yellow… like that! Every day, I can “transform” myself into many different faces.”
