Avril Lavigne is giving major Barbie vibes with her latest Instagram post, which is par for the course on this summer’s Barbiecore theme. And this punk pop princess certainly knows how to rock the look.
Avril, 37, donned a pink sweater top for an Instagram photoshoot that showed off her toned AF abs and a whole lot of underboob. “💖🖤,” she captioned the post. Simple and to the point! Honestly, she didn’t really need to say anything else.
Followers were big fans of Avril’s look, and filled the comments with praise for the “S8r Boi” singer. “💞💞💞🔥,” wrote Kourtney Kardashian Barker. “Stunnnnnnning,” MTV commented. Yup, this is goals.
Avril hasn’t talked a ton about her workout routine in recent years, but she has been open about her health struggles with Lyme Disease. In 2014, she began searching for a diagnosis, the singer told Billboard, and she went from doctor to doctor, asking the same thing: “I’m achy. I’m fatigued, I cannot get the f*ck out of bed—what the f*ck is wrong with me?”
As Avril’s condition worsened, her friends suggested she had Lyme after seeing a storyline on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills where Yolanda Hadid gets diagnosed with the disease. Avril actually reached out to Yolanda, who gave her the number for a Lyme specialist. I guess Munchausen-gate did help someone.
Soon after her diagnosis, Avril went on antibiotic and antimalarial medication—which is a typical treatment for Lyme disease, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. But, according to Avril, “[The Lyme disease] went undiagnosed for so long that I was kind of f*cked.”
According to Avril, doctors still haven’t figured out how to cure her of Lyme disease—which is why she’s telling her story. “I don’t want to talk about it. I don’t want to relive it. But it’s my responsibility,” she told Billboard.
As Avril heals (and rocks the hell out of her pink cropped sweater top), she loves throat coat tea, she told New York Magazine.
“When I’m in the studio, I bring a thermos filled with this. As a singer, you have to drink something in between takes. I’m constantly walking around with a little paper cup with a teabag — on my way to the stage and between every song.”
