Arsenal’s transfer window so far: 5 in, 31 out, 1 renewal

With just over a month remaining in the transfer window, Arsenal have already made significant moves to reshape their men’s and women’s teams.

The Gunners have secured key signings like Daphne van Domselaar, Riccardo Calafiori, and David Raya, while also bidding farewell to several players, including Emile Smith Rowe and a number of academy graduates.

With a little over one month left in the window, the Gunners have already made several noteworthy additions to their men’s and women’s teams.

Most recently, the acquisition of Dutch goalkeeper Daphne van Domselaar from Aston Villa strengthens the women’s squad. Van Domselaar’s impressive performances in Euro 2022 and the World Cup 2023 have earned her a reputation as a top-class shot-stopper, and her arrival provides healthy competition for Manuela Zinsberger.

On the men’s side, Arsenal secured the services of much-sought after Italian defender Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna. The 22-year-old left-back is known for his versatility, offering Mikel Arteta another option in defence.

David Raya signed from Brentford on a permanent deal after his Golden Glove-winning loan last season.

The club have also added promising young goalkeeper Tommy Setford from Ajax and Danish midfielder Lucas Nygaard on a free transfer as they overhaul the goalkeeping department.

Contract renewals

Arsenal also prioritised securing the futures of key players. Stina Blackstenius, a vital striker for the women’s team, signed a new contract, ensuring her continued contributions to the club’s attacking line.

Departures and loan deals

The summer transfer window has also seen a number of players leave Arsenal, either permanently or on loan. Several young talents, including Jack Henry-FrancisNuno Tavares, and Albert Sambi Lokonga, have been loaned out to gain valuable experience at other clubs.

Sadly, Emile Smith Rowe signed for Fulham on a permanent deal, bringing an end to his 14 years at the club.

The club also released a number of players, including Vivianne MiedemaSabrina D’AngeloKaylan MarckeseMohamed ElnenyGio Queiroz, and several academy graduates. These departures reflect the club’s ongoing efforts to manage squad size and create opportunities for younger players.

Academy departures

In addition to the senior players released, Arsenal also parted ways with a number of promising academy graduates, including Reuell WaltersAmario Cozier-Duberry, and several others. While these departures may raise concerns among fans, the club’s track record of producing young talent suggests that they are confident in the next generation of players coming through the ranks.
