Arsenal youngster Jack Henry-Francis is getting his first taste of competitive senior football out on loan this season, joining Sligo Rovers for the year, and he’s been a regular for the side so far.

Since joining his loan club in July, Henry-Francis has appeared in all eight of their games in all competitions, sometimes as a starter and sometimes as a substitute.

But the 20-year-old won’t be involved in Sligo’s next match, after picking up a red card against Shamrock Rovers.

Henry-Francis had picked up an early yellow card for a first-half foul, putting him on a tightrope for the rest of the match.

That booking eventually led to his dismissal in the 56th minute, as the midfielder chased down a loose ball and arrived just marginally after his opponent, catching him with his attempted tackle.

Though he didn’t do any serious damage, Henry-Francis did clearly make contact after the ball was gone, and he’ll likely have few complaints about the second yellow.

Henry-Francis will now serve a one-game ban in Sligo Rovers’ next game against Dundalk, and he’ll hope to return to the starting lineup soon after that.

These kinds of setbacks are inevitable in a first senior loan spell, but there’s plenty of time left to turn things around. Henry-Francis is on loan until the end of the Irish season in November.
