Arsenal Have Concrete Interest In This La Liga Ace: Should Arteta Get Him On Board?

In a recent tweet, journalist Ben Jacobs revealed that Arsenal have concrete interest in Real Sociedad ace Martin Zubimendi this summer. It is understood that the Gunners are eager to acquire the services of the Spanish talent later this year.

Zubimendi has enjoyed a solid campaign at the La Liga club as he has put in a series of impressive performances for them at the centre of the park. The 25-year-old has participated in 45 matches for the Spanish outfit this season, scoring four goals and grabbing one assist in multiple competitions.

The Spanish talent has caught the eye with his midfield contributions based on his average of 1.6 tackles, 1.2 interceptions and 1.7 clearances per game in La Liga football. He has also been accurate with his ball distribution after making 86.4% of his attempted passes in the Spanish top flight (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at Real Sociedad will expire in the summer of 2027 which would make it difficult for Arsenal to get a deal done for him on the cheap in the upcoming transfer period.

Should Arsenal Boss Mikel Arteta Get Zubimendi On Board?

Zubimendi is a good tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to earn possession back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when needed and is a tidy passer as well from midfield.

The Spaniard can chip in by scoring a few important goals for his team but needs to find a way to add more assists to his game this season. We can expect him to bring more bite and steel to Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta‘s frontline.

At 25, Zubimendi has his best years ahead of him which makes him a decent fit for the North London club‘s needs right now. However, it remains to be seen whether he can make a smooth transition to life in Premier League football.

Zubimendi might even help the Gunners compete across all fronts in the coming years. Thus, it makes sense for Arteta to try and get him on board when the transfer commences at the end of this campaign.
