Two of the continent’s leading clubs expressed a keen interest in the signature of a member of the defensive ranks at La Liga outfit Girona over the summer.
That’s according to transfer insider Matteo Moretto, who points towards Miguel Gutiérrez as the player in question.
Full-back Gutiérrez, for his part, enjoyed another stellar campaign at the Estadi Montilivi last time out.
Shining from his berth at left-back, the 23-year-old played a central role in Girona’s historic campaign, notching two goals and a head-turning seven assists in 35 appearances.
And such exploits, it would appear, did not go at all unappreciated across the continent.
As per a report from Matteo Moretto, speaking during an appearance on Fabrizio Romano’s Daily Briefing, no fewer than four European clubs made their interest in Gutiérrez’s services known over the summer.
The sides in question? Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Bayer Leverkusen, and Bologna.
The Spaniard, in the end, stayed put with Girona, but should his fine form continue through the season ahead, renewed interest in Gutiérrez’s signature is expected to mount in the summer of 2025.
