Arsenal are reportedly preparing to sanction Eddie Nketiah’s move to Marseille

Ligue 1 team Marseille made a loan offer with an obligation to buy for £25.6 million, which means Arsenal is ready to let Eddie Nketiah leave the club and join Marseille.

The 25-year-old has been eager to get more regular playing time after mostly being a substitute in Mikkel Arteta’s team. He is now likely to join former Brighton manager Roberterto de Zerbi in France.

Marseille has been very interested in the Gunners academy product. During negotiations, the two clubs went back and forth trying to come to a deal.

(The Athletic) says that Arsenal is now happy to let Nketiah go after finally coming to a deal with Marseille.

After keeping an eye on Nketiah during preseason training with Arsenal, the French team, who just signed Mason Greenwood from Manchester United last month, will decide if the deal goes through or not.

Nketiah has been part of Arsenal’s pre-season training while Marseille have tried to negotiate a deal

Roberto de Zerbi, the boss of Marseille, wants to bring in more attackers.

The striker and the club have already agreed on personal terms. He is now set to sign a five-year deal, making him the latest English star to move abroad.

Before he was given a long-term deal that was supposed to give him more chances to start, Nketiah looked like he would be leaving north London as a free agent in 2022.

He was also given the famous No.14 shirt that Thierry Henry wore, but he only started 10 Premier League games last year as the Gunners came in second place to Man City for the second year in a row.

Nketiah hasn’t played much for Arsenal under new manager Mikel Arteta in recent years.

When Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City joined Nketiah’s old club in 2022, he moved further down the ranks because Arteta liked the Brazilian up front more.

Kai Havertz then took Nketiah’s place as an attacker when he joined from foes Chelsea at the beginning of last season and scored 13 goals in his first season.

If Nketiah’s move to France goes through, he will be the second Arsenal first-team youth star to leave the club. Emile Smith-Rowe just joined Fulham.

Nketiah has played 168 times for Arsenal in all competitions, hitting 38 goals and setting up seven others.
