Ariana Grande and Dalton Gomez’s Divorce Finalized, Settlement Includes Payout and Interview Ban

Ariana Grande and Dalton Gomez are finally officially divorced. Six months after news of their divorce settlement broke, the former couple finalized their divorce on March 19, 2024, as reported by the Associated Press. The reason why the couple’s divorce has only now been finalized is to comply with the six-month waiting period required by statute for divorces filed in California.

As it has been previously reported, as part of the divorce agreement, Grande is expected to make a one-time payment of $1,250,000 to Gomez with no future alimony, on top of up to $25,000 to cover his attorneys’ fees. Grande is also expected to give Gomez half of the proceeds resulting from the sale of their shared Los Angeles home.

Last month, TMZ reported that both Ariana Grande and Dalton Gomez had simultaneously filed for divorce. Per the outlet, Grande’s lawyer, Laura Wasser, cited “irreconcilable differences” as the main reason for the divorce in her filings. The couple’s official separation date is said to be February 20, but they reportedly took time to iron out the details to ensure an amicable split despite having a prenup.

On October 10, Page Six obtained more information about the former couple’s divorce settlement. The settlement reportedly grants Gomez a one-time, tax-free spousal support payment of $1,250,000 from Grande. Grande will also reportedly pay $25,000 in attorney fees to Gomez and will allow him to use their former Los Angeles home rent-free for 30 days. The pair is also expected to put their shared property up for sale after settling their current $6 million mortgage, and are to split any profit that might arise equally.

“Ariana and Dalton really wanted to take care of each [other] through all of this and make it as easy on one another as possible — which is why they really took their time with everything,” an insider told Page Six. “They have a strong mutual respect for each other.”

Aside from the clauses mentioned above, the ex-couple’s settlement also reportedly prohibits Gomez from speaking or writing “any book, article, interview, program or other production” concerning his relationship with Grande.

Both Gomez and Grande also agreed not to “release, disclosure or publication of any photograph (and related negatives), tape, film or like embodiments in all forms whether now or hereafter created or other record or recording of any aspect of any activity in or about any home, office or other property owned.”

Speculation around Ariana Grande and Dalton Gomez’s split first started after the singer was spotted without her wedding ring, which Gomez famously designed, during a Wimbledon match in July. (Grande has been living in the U.K. for some time now while she films Wicked.) That same month, TMZ first reported that the couple had separated after two years of marriage, which we now know happened in February.

Soon after TMZ broke the news of the couple’s separation, Grande reportedly wiped almost all pictures and mentions of Gomez from her Instagram page, including their wedding pictures and honeymoon snaps.

That same week, rumors of Grande dating her Wicked co-star Ethan Slater started swirling around. Confirmation that Slater had filed for divorce from his wife — with whom he shares a one-year-old baby — arrived shortly after. “Ari and Ethan are just trying to lay low and be respectful of their exes as they pursue this new relationship,” a source told TMZ at the time. The rumored couple has since reportedly moved in together.

Ariana Grande and Dalton Gomez became engaged in late 2020, then got married in May 2021 with a small and intimate ceremony, reportedly attended by fewer than 20 guests. It’s still unclear when and how the pair met, but it is rumored that they were able to connect through mutual friends. “They run in the same circle,” an anonymous source told E! News in 2020. “He used to be a dancer, and they have many mutual friends. She’s gotten to know him quickly with the quarantine. They’ve been spending a lot of one-on-one time at home.”

Grande and Gomez made their unofficial couple debut by appearing together in the music video for the quarantine anthem “Stuck With U.” During their time together, they kept a low profile, only sharing rare glimpses of their private life sporadically on social media.

According to an anonymous source who spoke to Page Six, prior to their divorce, Grande and Gomez had been having problems since before January and came to the decision to separate together. “They want to remain best friends,” the source said. “They’ve been really good friends throughout the entire process, and their friends and families have been trying to protect them.”
