Lionel Messi’s son Thiago has made his choice between Argentina and Spain, while also revealing the Barcelona star he hopes to play with after leaving the Inter Miami academy.
Eleven-year-old Thiago is the oldest of three boys raised by Lionel and his wife Antonela. Thiago was born during his father’s legendary period at Camp Nou. Thiago is of Catalan origin, he will be eligible to play for Spain if he can create his own professional career.
However, despite being proud of having dual citizenship thanks to the help of his Argentinian parents, this young player has now chosen his favorite team.

Speaking to Mundo Deportivo about his plans for the present and future, Thiago said: “Playing makes me more nervous than watching my father play. I don’t do well with my left foot. I want to play with the Argentinian team and I don’t think there is any way the Spanish team can convince me.”
While he plans to follow in his father’s footsteps at international level, Thiago also expressed his desire to play in the same domestic arena at Barcelona. Thiago said when asked which current star he would like to be teammates with, Thiago further revealed: “I want to play with Lamine [Yamal].”

That’s entirely possible, because Yamal is only 16 years old and is constantly breaking records with Barcelona and Spain. With his Euro 2024 debut yesterday against Spain, Yamal became the youngest player to participate in a match in Europe’s most attractive tournament.
Thiago Messi playing with Yamal is completely possible when the two are only 5 years apart. Thiago is training at the academy at Inter Miami where Messi is playing for their senior team in MLS.
