Apple announced the new iPhone 16e as the latest version of their smart phone with pre-orders starting Friday, Feb. 21 and the official release coming on Feb. 28.
The iPhone 16e will be available in black and white and costs $599 in the U.S. A payment plan is available for $24.95 a month for 24 months. Storage capacities of 128 GB, 265 GB or 512 GB are available for the phone.

Apple said what separates this phone from the original iPhone 16 is the physical design. The iPhone 16e supposedly has “toughest back glass in a smartphone,” according to the press release sent by the company announcing the new phone.
The Ceramic Shield front cover is the strongest of any smartphone glass, said Apple. The iPhone 16e is also splash-, water- and dust-resistant.
Improved battery life
The battery life on the iPhone 16e is the best of any 6-inch iPhone, lasting six hours longer than the iPhone 11, according to Apple.
The Apple Intelligence on the iPhone 16e operates through the A18 chip, which Apple said also enhances the graphics on the phone.

Apple’s own artificial intelligence, which is also included in the latest iOS update, can alter the images on your phone by removing “distracting elements in images.” Apple Intelligence can allow users to search for any photo or video on their camera roll by simply describing the image or video.
ChatGPT, the artificial intelligence tool, will now be integrated into Siri and the latest Writing Tools on the iPhone 16e, according to Apple. The smartphone company claims privacy protections are also built in, saying “IP addresses are obscured and OpenAI won’t store requests.”
The iPhone 16e has a new action button that will “quickly open the camera or flashlight; switch between Ring and Silent modes; recognize music with Shazam; activate Voice Memos, Focus, Translate, and accessibility features like Magnifier; or use Shortcuts for more options.” The features can be customized in settings according to Apple.
Users with the iPhone 16e can now text when they outside of cellular and Wi-Fi coverage with the new satellite feature. Apple also said the new smartphone is environment friendly as it will use renewable electricity, and will use wind and solar projects in charging their products.
