ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — We are diving into the weight of President Trump’s visit to Western North Carolina on Friday, Jan. 24.
We spoke with our political analyst, Doctor Chris Cooper for his take.
“Helene. The aftermath of Helene and what’s happened in Western North Carolina is a national story. It is one Donald Trump thinks he wants to emphasize early,” said Cooper.

We also asked Cooper about his thoughts when it comes to a presidential visit leading to real action.
Here is what he had to say about that.
“Yes, presidents have tremendous amounts of power. He’s the most powerful person in the country. They don’t have unlimited power, so he needs to work with Congress to try to get real relief to our region,” said Cooper. “He also needs to work with state and local officials, so I think it’s been interesting to watch Gov. Stein, obviously a different political party than President Trump, but at least, what I hear Stein saying is we need to work together to get some real relief.”
