The Douro River Valley is one of Portugal’s most enchanting regions, and it’s the only place in the world that can legally produce “port wine”. On this tour, you’ll get to know and understand just how much hard work it takes to produce this traditional wine.
Touring through this region, you’ll enjoy steep, twisting valleys and tidy terraces. Depending on the season, the landscape color will change, from brown in winter, to green in summer, to amazing red and gold in fall.
We’ll get to pass by one many stunning viewpoints of the Douro Valley, and you’ll have the chance to visit two Quintas where you’ll meet the latest generation of winemakers and appreciate the pride of these artisans in their wine-making mastery.
In addition to this, in Pinhão, a small village in the heart of Douro, a Rabelo Boat will be available for you to enjoy a relaxing upriver trip.
Also, don’t forget that in this region, the local cuisine is a must-try. So, you’ll have the opportunity to enjoy lunch in a local restaurant too!
ITINERARY
·Our tour will start with a pick up from your accommodation or arranged meeting point in Porto to then head up to Douro Valley.
·We’ll then visit one of the Wine Estates of the Region and have a wine tasting.
·After the tasting, we could proceed to have lunch at a local restaurant.
·After lunch, we’ll pass by one of the many viewpoints in the Douro.
·Later, we’ll visit another winery and try their wine.
·Next, you’ll get the chance to go on a boat trip upriver from Pinhão (1 hour duration).
·After the boat trip, we’ll return to Porto for you to be dropped off at your accommodation.
