Well, this was inevitable. From CNBC:
Trump “has proven himself to be the only figure in modern history capable of reversing our nation’s decay and restoring America to greatness, and he must be given the time necessary to accomplish that goal,” said Rep. Andy Ogles of Tennessee, who proposed extending the current maximum of two elected terms. “It is imperative that we provide President Trump with every resource necessary to correct the disastrous course set by the Biden administration,” Ogles said in a statement.
“He is dedicated to restoring the republic and saving our country, and we, as legislators and as states, must do everything in our power to support him,” said Ogles, a hard-line conservative who is serving his second term in the House.
We have met brother Ogles in the shebeen before. He’s a Freedom Caucus lifer who first came to our attention for having Santos-ed his resume. Then there were the fundraising shenanigans. There also was the Christmas photo that showed the Ogles clan gathered together for the traditional holiday reading of the Nativity narrative from the book of armaments. From USA Today:
The photo, which remained on the congressman’s Facebook page as of Monday night, shows his wife and two of his three children smiling and holding firearms in front of a Christmas tree. “MERRY CHRISTMAS! The Ogles Family,” the post reads, adding in quotes: “The very atmosphere of firearms anywhere and everywhere restrains evil interference – they deserve a place of honor with all that’s good.”
I know this is just another shiny object that never will come to pass, but I believe it is important occasionally to reiterate that we are in the hands of the madmen.
