According to marine scientists, the number of sea animals living in the oceans may reach 100 million. But until now, only about 200,000 species have been discovered. This means there are still millions of sea creatures we do not know about yet.
God created the sea in a special way. The sea can clean itself by pushing out foam, dead animals, and waste. So, from time to time, it is normal for the sea to throw out a strange creature that no one has seen before.
Squid is a popular seafood loved by many people but only when it is a normal size. For hundreds of years, stories about the giant squid were part of legends and old tales. Many people talked about a huge squid that attacked ships and boats.
But for a long time, scientists were not sure if the giant squid was real. The first photo of a real giant squid was taken in 2004. The first video came later in 2012, and it was recorded by a Japanese marine scientist.
Giant squid
The giant squid is a deep-sea creature that is almost never seen. But on Cantabria Beach in Spain, people were shocked when they saw a giant squid lying on the sand.
The authorities came quickly and moved the squid to the marine museum. The squid was a female, weighing 180 kilograms and measuring 10 meters long.
Researchers say that this type of squid can grow up to 20 meters long and weigh around 275 kilograms. The giant squid also has the largest eyes in the animal kingdom.
Even though it usually lives in very deep water, things like water pollution or lack of food may push it to come up to shallower areas in search of food.
The problem is that the squid’s blood does not carry enough oxygen in warm water. Scientists say that this squid probably died because of oxygen poisoning or in other words, it did not get enough oxygen, which caused its death.
Angelfish
In January 2021, the authorities received a report from a fisherman near Newport Beach, California. The fisherman said that, because of his job, he visits many beaches to catch different kinds of fish. But in all his years of work, he had never seen a fish like this one before.
The fish looked very scary. Even though it was small, only 35 cm long, its dark black color, sharp teeth, and spiky fins made it look like a ghost.
But the surprise is that this fish is actually one of the best hunters in the deep ocean. It is called the Anglerfish. This fish can make its own light a power called bioluminescence. In the dark ocean, this light attracts other sea animals. When they get close, the anglerfish eats them.
Even more strange, after six months, another fish of the same kind was found again on the beach. To understand how rare this is, David Catania, a top scientist at the California Academy of Marine Sciences, said that only 13 of these fish have ever been found in history.
Lancetfish
The same strange thing happened again but this time with a different deep-sea fish called the Lancetfish.
In May 2014, something unusual happened on Nags Head Beach in North Carolina. People were shocked to see a strange, living fish washed up by the waves. It looked scary and different from normal sea creatures.
Some people who saw the fish were scared, while others tried to put it back into the water. One young man decided to help. Before returning the fish, he took a few photos. After a few tries, he was able to push the fish back into the sea.
Later, he shared the photos online, and they quickly went viral. Experts then started to share important information about the fish.
They explained that this fish is a deep-sea predator and is active at night. It uses its large fangs to eat crustaceans and small fish. The Lancetfish is rare in ocean waters, and not much is known about it.
What the young man didn’t know is that this fish can be very dangerous. Scientists say that it sometimes attacks swimmers at night. It can grow up to 2 meters long, and it is one of the mystery creatures of the deep sea.
oarfish
The oarfish is not a deep-sea fish. It usually lives in surface waters. Two environmental workers found one of these fish while walking on the Catalina Island Beaches in California.
At first, they were shocked by the fish’s huge size. But soon, they realized they were looking at a fish that many scientists spend thousands of dollars to see even once in their lives.
The oarfish is the longest bony fish in the ocean. It can grow over 6 meters long. But the one found on the beach was about 4 meters long and weighed around 160 kilograms.
According to National Geographic, scientists have no clear explanation for why such a rare fish came to the shore. The oarfish is strong and can handle ocean waves and currents well.
It usually swims vertically from deep water to the surface and back. So, the reason it was found on the beach is still a mystery.
Siamese twin gray whales
In a happy surprise for marine scientists, the waves revealed something very rare Siamese twin gray whales.
These two baby whales were found joined together on a beach in Mexico. Experts say they most likely died just minutes or hours after they were born.
Each of the baby whales was only about 2 meters long. But an adult gray whale can grow up to 15 meters.
Scientists believe that the mother had a miscarriage, and the baby whales were born too early. This is the first known case of Siamese gray whales ever seen or recorded.
A terrifying animal unlike any known animal
One of the strangest creatures ever found was discovered on Long Island, in New York, USA. The animal had a scary look and did not look like any known animal.
It was clearly not a sea creature, but at the same time, it did not look like any land animal either. It was something completely different and unknown.
It is important to know that Long Island had a military base and science labs until the year 1969. Many people told stories and legends about this base, including things like biological weapons, animal experiments, and space travel.
So, when people found this dead strange animal, they quickly connected it to the old military base on the island.
To find the truth, scientists did a DNA test. The results showed that the animal was just a raccoon. The sea water changed how it looked, which made it seem scary.
But many people still had questions.

The beach sand turned red

The sand turned red because a huge number of shrimps were all over the beach.
