Pennsylvania is one of nine states that are currently being impacted by a chocolate recall.
And that recall has just reached a heightened risk level.
The U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) originally announced this recall of Cal Yee Farm’s Dark Chocolate Almonds, Dark Chocolate Apricots, and Dark Chocolate Walnuts in December.
The administration explains that these products contained undeclared traces of milk, soy, wheat, FD&C #6 and almonds, posing a potential risk to people who may have certain allergies.
Newsweek reports that the FDA just upped the risk of this recall to a Class 1. This is the highest risk level there is, and is defined by the FDA as “a situation in which there is a reasonable probability that the use of, or exposure to, a violative product will cause serious adverse health consequences or death.”
