How Lions players performed in the Pro Bowl skills competitions

It’s not the competition Lions fans hoped to see their players in this time of year, but Detroit was well represented on the opening night of the Pro Bowl Games on Thursday.

Players took part in a series of skills competitions in Orlando to open the league’s annual All-Star event.

Jared Goff highlighted the evening by winning the Passing the Test competition of throwing accuracy. Faced with hitting an array of targets, some moving, in a carnival-style format, Goff recorded an event-best 44 points, besting second-place quarterback Sam Darnold by five.

The other Lions individual to take part was center Frank Ragnow, who took part in The Big Spike, a contest to see who could spoke a football with the most force. His score of 856 ranked fourth-best out of six competitors.

Running back Jahmyr Gibbs also anchored a relay race for the NFC and helped his conference come away with a win.

Overall, the NFC took a 14-7 lead after the night’s events. The Pro Bowl Games continue on Sunday with three more events and a flag football game.
