Rece Davis Slams Ohio State Coach Ryan Day For Behavior Before CFP National Championship

Ohio State head coach Ryan Day has a chance to earn redemption on Monday night.

The Buckeyes have won three consecutive games since losing 13-10 to Michigan at Ohio Stadium on Nov. 30. Day was under enormous pressure to win the CFP national championship after OSU lost their fourth-straight matchup against the Wolverines.

A little less than two months after the heartbreaking loss, No. 8 seed OSU enters the CFP national championship as 9-point favorites to defeat No. 7 Notre Dame at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

During ESPN’s “College GameDay” broadcast on Monday, the crew discussed how Day has handled his previous frustrations at Ohio State. Rece Davis condemned how the 45-year-old head coach responded to former Notre Dame head coach Lou Holtz in 2023.

“(Day) needs to do a better job of tuning it out, and other stuff too,” Davis said of how Day has responded to negative press and upset fans in Columbus, Ohio. “Like the stuff after the Notre Dame game last year and yelling at Lou Holtz. He had no reason to do that. Don’t do that. That’s not good.”

The Buckeyes have played with a chip on their shoulder ever since the Michigan loss, winning each of their three CFP games by double digits.
