“Marvel Snap” is unavailable in United States app stores and can’t be played nationwide.
Developers Second Dinner and publisher Nuverse said in a statement that the game was unexpectedly affected by the takedown of TikTok on Saturday, Jan. 18.
“MARVEL SNAP isn’t going anywhere,” the company said, adding that they are working to restore the game and will provide updates as soon as possible.
Around 8:30 p.m. MT/9:30 p.m. CT, about 90 minutes before the TikTok shutdown deadline, U.S. TikTok users received a pop-up message: “Sorry, TikTok isn’t available right now.”
“A law banning TikTok has been enacted in the U.S. Unfortunately, that means you can’t use TikTok for now,” the message read. “We are fortunate that President Trump has indicated that he will work with us on a solution to reinstate TikTok once he takes office. Please stay tuned!”
Social media users expressed frustration about the “Marvel Snap” ban. One user on X wrote, “I DIDN’T CARE FOR TIKTOK GETTING BANNED BUT NOT MARVEL SNAP.”
