As part of their Music of the Spheres World Tour, Coldplay is set to perform in Mumbai at the DY Patil Sports Stadium on Saturday, with two more shows lined up on January 19 and 21. Coldplay’s frontman, Chris Martin, was recently spotted visiting the Shri Babulnath Temple, hand in hand with his girlfriend, actress Dakota Johnson, quashing all breakup rumours around the mysterious couple.
A widely circulated video shows the duo dressed in traditional Indian attire, with Martin in a powder blue kurta set and Johnson in a salwar suit, with a dupatta wrapped around her head. She was also seen whispering in the ear of a Lord Nandi idol, a ritual associated with making wishes.
Martin and Johnson began dating in 2017 after the singer legally separated from ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow, with whom he shares two children, Apple and Moses. Though they prefer to keep their relationship low-key, the couple has been spotted together on multiple occasions—from cosy restaurant dates in Los Angeles and Malibu to attending concerts and high-profile events. From Buenos Aires to London, Johnson has been captured by fans cheering on the band as they performed.
According to People magazine, the duo made their first public appearance at Stella McCartney’s Autumn 2018 Collection. After almost a year of speculation, Johnson acknowledged her relationship with Martin in a 2018 interview with Tatler.
Their romance extended into professional collaborations as well. Johnson directed the music video for Coldplay’s Cry Cry Cry in February 2020. In October 2021, Martin made a heart-felt onstage gesture, dedicating the song Universe to Johnson during a Coldplay concert in London. “This is about my universe, and she’s here,” he told the audience, as Johnson was spotted dancing in the front row.

In March 2024, a source told People that the couple had taken the next step in their relationship. “They got engaged years ago but were in no rush to get married,” the source revealed. Adding fuel to speculation, Johnson has been spotted multiple times wearing a striking emerald ring.
Despite breakup rumours in August 2024, Martin and Johnson’s recent public appearance in Mumbai suggests their relationship remains strong. Fans will undoubtedly be keeping an eye on the couple as Coldplay continues their tour.
