CONVINCED THE MAN TO SURRENDER AND GET TREATMENT AT THE U-V-M MEDICAL CENTER. YOU MAY HAVE NOTICED YOUR PACKAGES ARE TAKING LONGER TO BE DELIVERED. AN EXPIRED áCONTRACT AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE U-S POSTAL SERVICE AND U-P-S — MIGHT BE TO BLAME FOR THAT. NBC5’S ERICKA LOVE HAS MORE ON WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOU. YES LAUREN, THE NEW YEAR MARKED THE END OF THE DELIVERY CONTRACT FOR U-P-S “SURE POST”, ACCORDING TO THE INTERNATIONAL BROTHERHOOD OF TEAMSTERS — WHICH REPRESENTS UPS DELIVERY DRIVERS. BEFORE THE AGREEMENT EXPIRED, U-S-P-S WOULD COMPLETE THE FINAL MILE OF DELIVERY FOR U-P-S SHIPMENTS. SO WHAT DOES THE CHANGE MEAN? WELL THE U-S POSTAL SERVICE IS THE ONLY CARRIER PERMITTED TO DELIVER TO POST OFFICE BOXES… ARMY POST AND NAVY FLEETS. SO WITH THE END OF THIS AGREEMENT, ANY OF THOSE CUSTOMERS NOW HAVE TO SHIP THEIR PACKAGES DIRECTLY TO A UPS LOCATION OR DIRECTLY TO THEIR ADDRESS. THE ONLY PROBLEM… SOME CUSTOMERS SAY THEY WEREN’T NOTIFIED ABOUT THE CHANGE AHEAD OF TIME. INCLUDING PAM LOEB… WHO LIVES IN SHELBURNE, VERMONT. NOW SHE SAYS… SHE’S JUMPING THROUGH HOOPS TO COLLECT THINGS SHE ORDERED ONLINE. Well, I just am concerned. You know, we we’ve got economic issues in our country, and there’s a lot of people who are doing, you know, have a lot of small businesses and yeah, I worry that it’s going to affect on a sort of a global scale, both buyers and sellers. BUTTED i haven’t been able to order anything. And unfortunately, while I would prefer to do business locally, we do live in Vermont and there aren’t necessarily everything is not locally available, that there’s a reason that I order some things online. PACKAGES MAY ALSO NEED TO CHANGE LABELS… OR BE RETURNED TO THE ORIGINAL SENDER… WHICH COULD RESULT IN LONGER WAIT TIMES. WE REACHED OUT TO THE US POSTAL SERVICE áAND UPS éFOR MORE INFORMATION. THE POSTAL SERVICE TOLD US… THEY’VE BEEN TRANSPARENT ABOUT THE CHANGE THROUGHOUT THE PROCESS SINCE THE SPRING OF 20-24. BUT THEY SAY HOW áOTHER BUSINESSES COMMUNICATE THE CHANGE… IS QUOTE “BEYOND THE CONTROL OR RESPONSIBILITY OF THE POSTAL SERVICE”. U-P-S TOLD US… IF THEY DON’T HAVE A VALID STREET ADDRESS… THEIR BEST OPTION IS TO USE UP
