MUMBAI: Actor Saif Ali Khan, who was assaulted at his Bandra home, underwent an extensive surgery to remove a knife that had been lodged near his thoracic spine.
Dr Nitin Dange, the neurosurgeon who performed the operation, stated, “He is stable, recovering well, and out of danger.”
The actor was admitted to the hospital around 3am with a reported history of an assault by an unidentified individual at his residence.

“He sustained a serious injury to his thoracic spine,” Dr Dange explained.
“The surgery was necessary to remove the knife and repair the leaking spinal fluid.
In addition to the spinal injury, Khan had two other deep wounds — one on his left wrist and another on the right side of his neck. These injuries were addressed by the plastic surgery team, led by Dr Leena Jain.
Khan is currently stable and recovering, and is expected to remain in the ICU for the next day. Doctors anticipate he may be discharged within a few days.
“Though the injuries were deep, our medical team managed them very well,” said Dr Niraj Uttamani, COO of Lilavati Hospital.
