The brand could make Curry a billionaire
The legendary player for the Golden State Warriors just signed a new long-term deal with the clothing brand. As part of the deal, he will run his own Curry Brand.
Rolling Stone says that the possible lifetime contract is worth more than $1 billion when you add up the yearly base pay, stock options, royalties on signed products, and on-court incentive bonuses.
Shares in Under Armour worth $75 million are part of the deal.
So far, Curry has made $350 million in the NBA. By the end of his current deal in the 2025–26 season, he will have made $470 million.
He also made a lot more money from ads from Google, JPMorgan Chase, Rakuten, and CarMax, as well as from his old deal with Under Armour.
It is worth noting that Curry also runs his own production business called Unanimous Media. It has made books, podcasts, and a multi-part Apple TV+ documentary about the NBA star.
Curry has made a lot of money so far, but his deal with Under Armour looks like it will be by far the best.
It is like Nike’s Jordan Brand, but made by Under Armour.
“I could not picture Under Armour without Stephen or Stephen without Under Armour,” Kevin Plank, the founder of the company, said.
Since Curry’s new deal will last after he stops playing football, a lot of the attention will be on getting athletes to promote the Curry Brand.
De’Aaron Fox, a point guard for the Sacramento Kings, became the first player to sign with the Curry Brand last month. He signed a multiyear deal.
Azzi Fudd, a star basketball player for UConn women’s basketball, has a NIL deal with the brand.
“We are going to have an investment in the roster of athletes – men and women, from various sports – that want to be a part of the UA and Curry Brand family,” Curry said.
“That is where I think the biggest growth can come.”
Curry would be in the same group of famous people as Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, LeBron James, and Tiger Woods if he became a billionaire.
Kevin Durant is also on track to become a billionaire. They used to play for the Warriors together.
