Carmelo Anthony has just released a new book called “Where the Future Is Uncertain”. As usual, the star who just moved to the Los Angeles Lakers will hold book signings to promote his new publication. And in such a cozy event, the former New York Knicks player was asked a very funny and adorable question by a young fan.

In the middle of the autograph session, a young boy wearing LeBron James’ No. 23 Lakers jersey mustered up the courage to approach the 1984-born star. The boy asked whether Carmelo Anthony and his idol were friends. Perhaps after years of fighting against each other through many different jerseys, this cute blond boy did not believe that the two were friends after so many confrontations that they were skin and skin.
The boy’s question was met with an amused smile from Carmelo Anthony. This made him unable to forget until he got home and posted the video recording this scene on his personal Twitter page to ask the same question to his friend LeBron James. After a while, LeBron James responded very humorously: “Maybe we are friends.”
The friendship between Carmelo Anthony and LeBron James is very special. What makes it special is that it was built on a healthy competition between two of the world’s top basketball stars. Because they are the same age, they had the opportunity to face each other since their school days. This historic match was none other than the match between LeBron James’ St. Vincent-St. Mary’s school and Carmelo Anthony’s Oak Hill Academy. Although it was just a high school match, it made the whole of America watch.
Since then, LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony have always been a pair of opponents that have shaken the basketball world with the heat every time they compete. Of course, between the fiery clashes, there are still some quiet moments like the Olympics when both aim to bring gold back to the land of the stars and stripes. Despite such confrontations, a friendship has emerged between them, stemming from their extremely positive admiration for each other.

Carmelo Anthony later said that a night in a New Jersey hotel preparing for a game between St. Vincent-St. Mary and Oak Hill Academy was the starting point for it all. It all started with a simple question from LeBron James as they walked up the steps of the hotel.
“We both got to the hotel at the same time and he came up to me and said, ‘Hey, are you Melo?’ And LeBron and I talked for hours on the steps of the hotel. We knew right away that we were compatible. We were both single-mother kids, growing up in poverty in the slums. It was just the perfect time for us to meet because we were both looking for a brother,” Carmelo Anthony recalled to Sportscasting.
They are now teammates in the NBA.
After more than 20 years of fighting on opposite fronts, Carmelo Anthony and LeBron James are now preparing to enter their 19th NBA season as teammates for the first time. Let’s wait and see if this combination can bring the Larry O’Brien Cup to the Los Angeles Lakers.
