Persistence – Cristiano Ronaldo’s secret to invincibility

Starting from a low base, but thanks to effort and perseverance, Ronaldo overcame all difficulties to become the greatest striker in the world.

“To be or not to be”

That was the question that was lingering in Dolores Aveiro’s mind when she found out she was pregnant with Ronaldo. She went to the doctor to ask for an abortion because her family was poor, her husband was addicted to alcohol and they were struggling to raise three children. The doctor refused, she tried every way to miscarry but failed. After that, Ronaldo was born into a difficult and helpless family situation.

As a child, Ronaldo hated going to school and found joy in playing football. Realizing that his son had talent, Ronaldo’s mother convinced her husband to send him to the local football team Andorinha. They thought that the football environment could help him relieve his sadness, but here, Ronaldo was mocked for his background. They laughed at his father’s cleaning job and made up a lie that his mother came from a brothel.

Tireless efforts help Ronaldo succeed in his career.

Stand up from tears

Every time he was teased, little Ronaldo cried. But he would get up again with even greater determination. At the end of each training session, when everyone had gone home, Ronaldo would stay behind to practice kicking the ball and try new moves. His perseverance and dream of becoming a talented striker helped him become the number one star at Andorinha.

At the age of 10, Ronaldo caught the eye of the region’s biggest club,  Nacional . A year later, he became team captain, playing alongside players a few years older than him. At the age of 12, Ronaldo decided to leave his family and go to the capital city of Lisbon to train. Here, Ronaldo was often ridiculed and isolated because of his strong Madeira accent.

Ronaldo dropped out of school to focus on football. He continued to practice the same way he practiced at his new club: always staying back for an extra half hour to practice skills he felt were not yet perfect. Thanks to his tireless efforts, Ronaldo was noticed by Alex Ferguson. His journey to stardom began from there.

Ronaldo shone when he left Portugal to join Manchester United – the most prestigious team in England. He has constantly tried to become one of the best number 7s in the history of the Red Devils after only 6 years of joining the club.

Success and failure

Hundreds of top matches, classy moves and thousands of beautiful goals have made Ronaldo a magnet attracting the attention of football fans. Recently, he surpassed Messi to win the “Best Player in Europe” award for the 2016-2017 season. In addition, he also won the “Best Striker of the 2016-2017 season” award.

Ronaldo has a good chance of winning the 2017 Golden Ball – voted by French football magazine – announced in December this year. He is also one of three candidates for the title “Best FIFA Player of the Year” on October 23.

Before that, he had a series of achievements that any player dreams of, with three times being honored as “Best Player in Europe”, four times winning “Best Player in the World” voted by FIFA…

Starting from a lower position, but thanks to his efforts and perseverance, Ronaldo overcame all difficulties to become the greatest striker in the world. Millions of fans admire CR7 not only because of his talent on the field but also because of his invincible spirit.
