A-list celebrity couple Zendaya and Tom Holland surprised a quaint Cornish cafe by dropping in for breakfast. The stars of the Spider-Man: Homecoming film visited Ramshackle Rosie, a hidden gem near St Austell, on Tuesday, September 10.
Cafe owner Helen Woodward from Par told CornwallLive that she was oblivious to the fame of her guests when they arrived, even requesting the Hollywood pair to switch to a smaller table. “I didn’t have a clue who they were,” she said. For the latest TV & Showbiz news, sign up to our newsletter.
Describing the duo as “absolutely lovely”, Woodward mentioned that Zendaya and Holland dined alone, savouring a brief 20-minute meal. Zendaya opted for American pancakes with maple syrup and a hash brown, while Tom chose the hearty ‘Zeppelin’ fry-up. “They were just like a regular couple and apparently went to Asda after,” Helen said.

“They came in and I was serving a couple of other customers so I told them to take a seat and they went to sit down. I’ve only got a small cafe and I’ve got one big table that I can get about five people at and they went and sat there so I asked if they minded moving to a smaller table, in case I got a group come in.”
It was only after another customer’s revelation did Woodward realise their celebrity status. “Then this other couple said to me: ‘they are famous, you know?’ and I asked who they were and they told me he was Spider-Man. They were absolutely lovely. They were just a really nice couple. It was just them two.”
She speculated that actors Holland and Zendaya chose her place because it’s “a bit out the way” where they could “avoid any hassle” adding: “And that’s what they got because I didn’t even know who they were.”
“They were just like a regular couple,” she continued. “I was really busy so I didn’t even get a chance to talk to them but I wouldn’t have anyway. They just came in for breakfast and they probably don’t want to be bothered. I just gave them their breakfast and left them alone. They left a fiver tip though.”
One person, who was at the cafe the same time, took to Facebook after finding himself seated next to the stars in the cafe, posting: “Just having breakfast in Ramshackle Rosie cafe and f***ing Tom Holland and Zendaya sat next to us for a breakfast.” He disclosed that the pair mentioned planning to visit Asda following their meal, and several sightings of them at the supermarket were reported. A photograph has since emerged online purportedly capturing them in Asda.
