About to turn 39, Portuguese football star Cristiano Ronaldo suddenly talked about retirement, putting an end to his football career.
The Al-Nassr club’s famous player suddenly shared about his plan to hang up his boots while attending the Globe Soccer Awards ceremony in Dubai.
Ronaldo said he has been thinking about retirement: “The exact time when I retire, honestly I don’t know. Of course it will come soon, soon for me means another 10 years. I’m just kidding, honestly I don’t know, let’s see.”

Ronaldo will turn 39 in early February. His contract with Al-Nasr will end in late 2024 or early 2025. Around this time, Ronaldo will turn 40.
In an interview with British television journalist Piers Morgan in 2022, after the interview ended, Ronaldo answered an off-topic question and this moment did not appear in the recorded frame. Accordingly, Ronaldo said he wanted to retire at the age of 40.
Journalist Piers Morgan is a close friend of Ronaldo and is often given in-depth interviews by him.
At the Globe Soccer Awards, Ronaldo received three awards, including Most Popular Player, Best Middle Eastern Player, and the Maradona Award (for the player with the most goals in the year). After receiving these awards, Ronaldo shared some rather suggestive comments about the prestige of awards in the field of football.

“I think in some ways these awards are losing their prestige. We need to analyse a player’s performance over a season. I’m not saying Messi doesn’t deserve the awards he’s received, or that I’m implying anything about Haaland or Mbappe.
Simply, I don’t believe in these awards anymore. It’s not because I won the Globe Soccer Awards that I’m speaking out like this. But there are facts, there are numbers, and numbers don’t lie. There are awards they can’t deny me, because there are undeniable facts. So, I feel happy, the numbers are the truth that speaks for itself.”
Ronaldo also confided that he knows he will no longer be able to compete for some of the major awards in the football world, because he is currently playing football in Saudi Arabia.
“We all know how awards work. Right now, I will always think about the club and the national team. Awards always come after a good season at club and with the national team. Honestly, I don’t think much about awards.
You can say that the 54 goals I scored in 2023 are simple because I play in Saudi Arabia. But professional players know that it is difficult to score goals, whether in Saudi Arabia, Italy, Portugal, Spain… A goal is always a goal. In a way, I feel proud of the awards I have just won,” Ronaldo said.
At the Globe Soccer Awards, Ronaldo appeared with his longtime girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez. The beauty impressed with a sexy white dress. Over the past year, there have been rumors that Ronaldo and Rodriguez were on the brink of breaking up, although Ronaldo’s mother has denied this.
The couple’s intimate appearance at a recent event shows that whether the rumors of a rift are true or not, up to now, Ronaldo and his girlfriend have become sweet and passionate again when appearing in front of reporters’ lenses.
