Argentina’s manager has given an update on the injury situation of Liverpool midfielder, Alexis Mac Allister.
The Liverpool no.10 arrived on international duty with a ‘muscle overload’ but participated and even scored in Argentina’s 3-0 victory over Chile.
Nonetheless, he was forced off the field in the 78th minute and looked in discomfort as he took his place on the substitute bench.
Shortly after the game, it was revealed that Mac Allister was again struggling with muscle issues and he was unable to participate in Argentina’s subsequent training sessions.
But now Argentina manager, Lionel Scaloni, has addressed the concerns surrounding the Liverpool midfielder and given an update about Mac Allister’s current injury situation.

Lionel Scaloni gives Alexis Mac Allister injury update
The Argentina manager held a press conference on Sunday afternoon before his side jetted off to Colombia, where they will face Luis Diaz’s side on Tuesday night.
In the press conference, Scaloni revealed that Mac Allister was able to train with the squad on Sunday and that he would be named in the travelling squad to face Colombia.
“The team is fine, recovering from the game the other day, with some typical ailments. Nico (Gonzalez) trained separately and Alexis (Mac Allister) with the rest of the group,” Scaloni said as per the Liverpool ECHO.

However, the Argentina manager did not reveal whether Mac Allister would feature in the game against his Liverpool teammate.
“We will see how they have evolved over the last two days to decide how we are going to play.”
Earlier on this week, it seemed like Mac Allister would be a doubt for Liverpool’s first game back in the Premier League on Saturday September 14 against Nottingham Forest.
However, Scaloni’s update is definitely an encouraging sign that Mac Allister could be involved in that game.
