Questions have been raised about whether Ronaldo, who will be 41 when the 2026 World Cup takes place in two years’ time, will still be fit to play for the Seleccao. But Ronaldo has not given up hope of playing and Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes insists the final decision will be up to Ronaldo.
Ronaldo’s Portugal teammate Bruno Fernandes shared about Ronaldo’s participation in the 2026 World Cup: “It is Cristiano Ronaldo’s decision and it depends on whether he feels well and is in good form or not.
We know that Ronaldo will reach a certain age with this level of demand, but the decision is up to him. And I am sure that Ronaldo will decide for himself and the Portuguese national team.”

“Only me and the people around me know how difficult it is to work every day to be physically and mentally fit to reach the goal of 900 goals,” Ronaldo said after scoring his first goal for Portugal since June.
“It was a special milestone in my career and I celebrated that goal with a lot of emotion. It means a lot. It’s a number I’ve wanted to reach for a long time and I knew I would because as long as I keep playing it will happen naturally. I’ve won two titles for Portugal, which I really wanted. Whatever comes next is spectacular.”
Writing on social media , five-time Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo added: “I dreamed of this and I have many more dreams.”
