The actor’s father Dominic Holland explained what happened to the star in a blog post on Patreon
Tom Holland‘s family game of golf left a mark!
The Spider-Man: No Way Home actor, 27, posted a photo of a painful head injury from playing golf with his family in Scotland on his Instagram Stories on Monday, May 6.
Holland shared a close-up shot of a large bump on the right side of his forehead with a bloodied circle imprint on top from when the golf ball connected with his head.
“Who ever said golf isn’t a contact sport is full of s—,” Tom wrote in the caption. “You can almost see the dimples.” The actor then tagged his dad Dominic Holland’s Patreon page where he shared a funny account of what caused his son’s injury in a blog post four days prior.
Dominic explained that “a golf ball did hit his head,” though it was not a serious injury.
“In fact, it was hit by a sand wedge from 80 yards albeit by a scratch golfer who should have known better and frankly been more accurate,” he continued. “The offending player was Alex Roberts, a close friend of Tom’s … without knowing that his most important and highly valuable friend was off the green to his left.”
“Whack. The ball struck Tom on the right of his forehead. Had it been just a few cm’s to his left or right … It was a great shock and it certainly hurt, hence why Tom hit the turf as though he’d been shot,” Dominic explained, adding that the actor’s “woolly hat offered some protection.”

“[Tom was] lucky then to be playing in Scotland (the home of golf) in April when woolly hats are mandatory for survival,” Tom’s dad joked. He then shared that his son was “dispatched to hospital for some checks.”
Dominic jokily concluded in his post, “Something else about the accuracy of this blog … Firstly, Alex, (Tom’s friend) … is no longer in Tom’s inner cohort. Relegated to the outer circle. Shall we say, not inside the ropes.”
Tom’s injury comes as his girlfriend Zendaya was across the pond attending the 2024 Met Gala in New York City on Monday, May 6.
Tom shared his support for the actress — who was co-chair at this year’s event — on Instagram the next day as he posted photos of Zendaya’s striking first and second looks worn at the event alongside a series of “😍😍😍” emojis.
