Thousands of pages of CIA files on unidentified flying objects suddenly posted online

A website called The Black Vault has just posted the content of a CD containing 2,780 pages of documents about unidentified flying objects (UFOs) collected by the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) over the years, attracting tens of millions of downloads.

According to CNET , the CIA has repeatedly released UFO -related documents over the years and even created an online compilation of information from the 1940s to the early 1990s. Last year, the US Navy also released documents and videos of a 2004 UFO encounter.

Thanks to the Freedom of Information Act, The Black Vault founder John Greenewald Jr. has filed about 10,000 requests to release the documents. To date, the site has about 2.2 million pages of documents.

According to the Hindustan Times , Mr. Greenewald wrote on his blog that the CIA had created a CD collecting information about UFOs for many years and he bought it in mid-2020. The contents of this disc can be downloaded in two forms: original or PDF file.

In April 2020, the US Department of Defense released three videos showing US Navy pilots encountering what appeared to be UFOs. The Navy then released incident reports related to a series of encounters between pilots and unidentified aerial phenomena (UAPs) – the term the US government uses to refer to UFOs.

There are many fascinating unsolved stories on the CD, including a strange explosion in a small Russian town.

Notably, the “huge” number of documents above was revealed just a few months before the 180-day deadline for the Pentagon to present all information about UFOs to Congress. However, The Black Vault commented that it is very difficult to verify these CIA documents.

On January 13, Mr. Greenewald said that more than 622,000 people visited The Black Vault website with 30.7 million visits, downloading nearly 26 terabytes of data in just 24 hours. This shows that many people still cherish the interest in UFOs.
