The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) established a committee to publicly investigate UFO reports and discuss new findings.
A committee established by NASA investigated about 800 reports of unidentified anomalies (UAPs), also known as unidentified flying objects (UFOs).
While UAPs are basically just another name for UFOs, they don’t necessarily have to be airborne. Any anomalous phenomenon whether it’s on land, at sea, in the air, or in space is considered a UAP.
The investigation committee is headed by astrophysicist David Spergel and includes a group of experts ranging from university professors to former astronauts .
The study used declassified reports and photographs to try to explain some of the reports of mysterious phenomena, which came from a range of sources, including military personnel and commercial airline pilots.
Sean Kirkpatrick, director of the US Department of Defense’s National Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO), said the agency also investigates such complaints and receives 50-100 new reports about UAPs each month.
There are many examples of such events that initially seem mysterious, but have surprising explanations.
One example occurred at an observatory in Australia, where strange radio signals were detected, but researchers observed that they were mostly seen around lunchtime.
It turned out that the devices were recording microwave leakage in the lunchroom, as people prepared food.
Another interesting revelation comes from Scott Kelly – a former NASA astronaut with an impressive resume who is also on NASA’s UAP Committee.
At a recent committee meeting, he described a flight near Virginia Beach in which he and his co-pilot believed they had encountered a UFO . Upon re-examination, it turned out to be a balloon.
This highlights the difficulty of analyzing footage and reports coming from so many sources. Much of the data used is of poor quality, making it harder to unravel the mysteries it may contain.
Recently, an American with knowledge of intelligence claimed that the US may be in possession of concrete evidence of UAP.
NASA has not responded to the claim, although the whistleblower has yet to provide any additional evidence.
According to NASA, a full report will be released in late 2023 with more details discovered from these investigations.
