Famous female rapper Cardi B won the lawsuit against YouTuber Latasha Kebe, who spread rumors that she was a prostitute and had a sexually transmitted disease. This rumor caused Cardi B physical and mental damage, and she even wanted to commit suicide.
On January 24, a US federal court ruled in favor of Cardi B, claiming that YouTuber Latasha Kebe had defamed and defamed the female rapper. With the guilty verdict, Latasha Kebe must compensate Cardi B for more than $1 million in emotional damages.
Although the mandatory damages are over $1 million, the amount could increase if additional court costs and damages are added. Whether Latasha Kebe will have to pay more depends on the subsequent court proceedings.
Lawyers for both sides have not yet responded to the press about the court’s ruling.
Cardi B sued Latasha Kebe in 2019 after the YouTuber posted dozens of shocking videos about the rapper. Latasha Kebe claimed that Cardi B was a prostitute when she was a stripper and had sexually transmitted diseases, including herpes virus (HSV), which causes blisters, and cheated on her husband. Sensitive videos with unclear faces were also posted with Latasha Kebe’s assertion that it was Cardi B.
Cardi B has denied it, saying that it is all defamation and fabrication. The spreading rumors caused her to have a mental breakdown, wanting to commit suicide, feeling depressed about everything in life, losing weight, and panicking.
In previous court hearings, Latasha Kebe initially admitted that she intentionally misrepresented Cardi B to gain fame and gain viewers. However, she later attempted to recant her initial testimony.
